"Chaos is my job, so that calm can be everyone else's. I make sure every detail is attended to, so the people making the art never have to stop and ask if the room is ready."

Trisha Mohta grew up in Kolkata, India, and has spent the years since — training in Kathak and Odissi, then earning a BFA in Contemporary Dance in the US — moving between the studio and the production office without ever quite choosing one over the other. She doesn't see this as a divided path. Running a budget and building a piece of choreography ask for the same thing: attention, structure, and a reason for doing it.

Trisha creates and produces work only when there's something real behind it — an idea, a message, a person whose story is worth telling — and brings that same standard to the logistics that make performance possible. She's taught dance and academics across India and the US, worked with communities from elementary school students to elders living with dementia, and currently supports production and administration for a New York-based dance company. Explore her work on the production side, or the performance side, below.
